Rohit Sharma’s Team India will face Mitchell Santner-led New Zealand in match No. 12 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, March 2.

The league stages of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will come to an end on Sunday with the two semifinalist from Group A – India and New Zealand – taking part in match No. 12 at the Dubai International Stadium. However, there is still a lot at stake for both sides although they have both qualified for the last four stage after wins over Bangladesh and Pakistan in their first two matches.
The winner of match No. 12 will qualify in No. 1 spot with an all-win record from Group A. The victorious side in the India vs New Zealand encounter will avoid facing ODI world champions Australia in the semifinal match and will instead take on South Africa in the last four stage matches.
Since all of India’s matches are going to take place, including the first semifinal on Tuesday (March 4), both Australia and South Africa have been forced to travel to Dubai before their opponents in the last four match are decided. A BBC report suggested that both Australia and South Africa would have wanted to reach Dubai early to get training time there if they have to face India in the semifinals on Tuesday.
“Group B concludes with South Africa’s match against England on Saturday but neither the Proteas or Australia will know the venue for their semifinal until after the conclusion of India’s match against New Zealand on Sunday,” the report said on Saturday.
“Were they (Australia and South Africa) to wait until Monday and only travel when the fixtures were confirmed, that would rule out the possibility of training in Dubai -– where India will have played all three group matches,” it added.
Team India could make a few changes to their playing 11 with captain Rohit Sharma unsure of taking the field due to hamstring injury. Both KL Rahul and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate informed the media that there is no fitness concerns with Rohit Sharma. However, if Rohit Sharma is deemed unfit, then vice-captain Shubman Gill could be leading the side.
India may also decide to rest Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja and bring in Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy for the contest against the Black Caps.
