The winner of the IPL 2025 Eliminator will take on Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Hardik Pandya’s MI have made a remarkable comeback after losing 4 out of their first 5 matches in the IPL 2025 season. They had a chance to secure the top two position but lost their last game against Punjab Kings to end up in 4th position.
Shubman Gill’s GT, on the other hand, were topping the table for majority of the season but lost their last two league matches to end up in third place on the Points Table. GT will now look to get back to winning ways and keep hopes of winning their second IPL crown alive.
MI will need to make plenty of changes with Ryan Rickleton and Will Jacks leaving for national duties after the league stage. England batter Jonny Bairstow is also set to be Rohit Sharma’s new opening partner while Sri Lanka’s Charity Asalanka can replace all-rounder Will Jacks.
Mumbai also have a couple of fitness worries with pacer Deepak Chahar and batter Tilak Varma nursing injuries. GT will also miss the services of prolific wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler and he will be replaced by Sri Lanka Kusal Mendis for the Eliminator match.
