New Delhi: The highly anticipated tri-series between Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa kicked off today in Lahore, with the Gaddafi Stadium witnessing an unforgettable batting display from Glenn Phillips, who scored his first-ever ODI century.

Phillips was 48* off 54 balls at the end of the 46th over, but unleashed an explosive finish, smashing 58 off the final 20 deliveries to finish on 106* from 74 balls. The standout moment of Phillips’ innings was the last over, bowled by Shaheen Shah Afridi, in which Phillips hammered 25 runs.

New Zealand was at 305/6 when the over began, with Phillips on 83*. Shaheen, who had figures of 3/63 before the over, started with two wides. However, those wides were just a prelude to the assault that followed. Phillips opened the over with a reverse-scoop boundary, followed by back-to-back sixes to move to 99*. He then took a quick double to bring up his maiden ODI century, achieving the milestone off just 72 balls.
