The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has already witnessed one washout with Australia and South Africa suffering at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium earlier this week. Now, there is a major threat of rain over hosts Pakistan’s third and final Group A match at Rawalpindi on Thursday as well.

Pakistan, along with their opponents in Thursday’s match Bangladesh, have failed to qualify for the semifinals of the Champions Trophy after losing both their opening matches to India and New Zealand. Mohammad Rizwan’s side would have been hoping to sign off from the tournament with a win but that plan can also be ruined with a major threat of rain hanging over the contest.

According to weather prediction, when match No. 9 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 gets underway at 1pm local time (230pm IST), there is a 74 per cent chance of rain with 99 per cent cloud cover over the Pindi stadium. The maximum temperature at that time will be around 19 degree – far cry from 34 degrees which Pakistan faced in their last match against India in Dubai.

Around 5.2mm of rain is predicted on Thursday afternoon with the humidity around 77 per cent. By evening another 1.5mm of rain is predicted with the humidity rising to 81 per cent and 98 per cent cloud cover. The temperature will drop down to about 13 degrees with strong gusty winds in the evening too.

Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi weather prediction for Thursday.

Pakistan have won just 1 out of their last 5 ODI matches while Bangladesh have lost their last 5 ODIs. Najmul Hossain Shanto’s side are coming into the ICC Champions Trophy after a 3-0 whitewash at the hands of West Indies and lost their first two games in the tournament against India and New Zealand.

Hosts Pakistan, on the other hand, were coming into the tournament with ODI series wins over Australia and South Africa away from home. This is the first ICC event hosted by Pakistan after 29 years.

Mohammad Rizwan’s side have disappointingly failed to reach the semifinal and will have to face the repercussions of their poor show in a tournament that they are hosting.
