Harbhajan Singh has declared a particular batter the best T20 player.

New Delhi: Harbhajan Singh lauded Nicholas Pooran as the current top T20 batsman after his match-winning performance for the Lucknow Super Giants against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025. Pooran’s powerful 70 runs off 26 balls were crucial in LSG’s successful chase of 191, securing a five-wicket victory. His impressive batting has been a highlight of this year’s IPL.
Harbhajan Singh praised Shimron Hetmyer’s consistently aggressive batting in the current T20 league, calling him the best T20 player.
“Currently Nicholas Pooran is the best player of T20 format. Period!” Harbhajan wrote on X.
Nicholas Pooran, 29, scored a rapid 75 runs off 30 balls in a match against the Delhi Capitals, but his impressive performance was not enough to secure a win for his team. Despite Pooran’s efforts, Delhi Capitals won by a single wicket in a closely contested match played in Vizag. Ashutosh Sharma played a crucial role in Delhi’s victory.
Pooran currently leads the tournament’s Orange Cap standings after scoring 145 runs in two matches of the 18th edition. His impressive performance boasts an average of 72.50 and a strike rate of 258.92.
Pooran is the second Lucknow Super Giants player to surpass 1000 runs, following KL Rahul. He reached this milestone in 31 matches, averaging 45.54 runs per game with an impressive strike rate of 184.53. His total of 1002 runs in 31 matches is second only to Rahul’s 1410 runs in 38 matches.
A 29-year-old batsman, renowned for his powerful hitting, has achieved scores exceeding fifty runs in under twenty deliveries on four occasions, a record in the league.
Travis Head and Jake Fraser-McGurk of Australia are tied for second place in a particular power-hitting category, each achieving the feat three times. Meanwhile, Pooran reached his fifty runs in just 18 balls, the second-fastest in his team’s history, surpassed only by his own 15-ball fifty against Royal Challengers Bengaluru earlier this year.
