Team India cricketer has become the new world No. 1 bowlers in the latest ICC T20I rankings in the middle of the Asia Cup 2025 tournament.
Indian cricket team is enjoying a golden run in the Asia Cup 2025, with two wins in two matches – including one over arch-rival Pakistan on Sunday. There was more good news in store for Suryakumar Yadav’s side as star cricket and mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy has become new world No. 1 bowler in T20I cricket in the latest rankings released on Wednesday.
Chakravarthy has risen to the world No. 1 position for the first time in his brief T20I career. The Kolkata Knight Riders off-spinner claimed figures of 1/4 in India’s tournament opener against United Arab Emirates and backed that up with an equally impressive haul of 1/24 from four overs in the commanding seven-wicket victory over Pakistan four days later.
It proved enough for Chakaravarthy to rise three spots to claim the No. 1 position for the first time, with New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy dropping to second, West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein remaining in third and Australia’s Adam Zampa rising to fourth overall.
