CLAT 2026 Examination: The Common Law Aptitude Test (CLAT) 2026 is likely to be held on December 7, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM as notified by the Consortium Of National Law Universities popularly referred as the consortium. The official notification specifies that the decision was made during a meeting between the executive committee and governing body of the consortium on July 20. It also informed that the portal for the registration for the CLAT 2026 will become functional from August 1, 2025 till October 31, 2025. CLAT 2026 Examination: How to register for the CLAT 2026 exam?
Once the registrations are live, interested students may follow the given steps to enroll themselves for the exam.
• Go onto the registration portal when functional or go the consortium’s website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in and navigate to “CLAT 2026”.
• Enter required credentials like email ID and mobile number to register.
• Fill up personal information .
• Attach required documents like candidate’s photograph, signature, government IDs ,etc.
• Complete the payment and submit the application.

CLAT 2026 Examination: Additional information
The CLAT exam allows candidates to pursue UG/PG courses in law like BA/BBA/BSC + LLB (5 year integrated for UG) and LLM (2 years for PG). If qualified, candidates can study in top national law universities (NLUs) of India. About 22 NLUs are part of the consortium this year across India. Undergraduate law aspirants are assessed in subjects like English language and comprehension, current affairs and general knowledge, legal reasoning, logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude.
Exams for both UG and PG courses span for 120 minutes. Candidates will be awarded 1 mark for each correct answer, -0.25 for each incorrect answer and no marks for questions left unattempted for 120 questions. Exam will be Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) objective based.
