Team India will open their campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with a Group A clash against Asian rivals Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium (DIS) on Thursday (February 19). Pakistan are the hosts of the ICC Champions Trophy but the tournament is being held in a ‘hybrid’ manner with all of India’s matches, one semifinal and possibly the final (if India qualify) taking place in Dubai.

Pakistan are playing the opening match of the tournament against New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday. But the weather prediction for India’s opening clash is not looking very bright in Dubai.

The city in the United Arab Emirates has been witnessing some rain and cloudy weather over the last few days. Now, the prediction for India vs Bangladesh clash is for more wet weather on Thursday.

According to Accuweather website, there is about 55 per cent chances of rainfall in the India vs Bangladesh match in Dubai. The temperature in the afternoon when the game starts off around 1pm local time (230pm IST) will be around 27 degrees with 65 per cent cloud cover.

No provision for RESERVE day in group matches

There is no reserve day in provision for the group matches in the Champions Trophy. If the match between India and Bangladesh is completely washed out both sides will have to share one point each.

However, the two semi-finals and the final will have a reserve day. But every attempt will be made to finish the game on the scheduled day itself. If that is not possible, the match will resume on the reserve day from where it was stopped.

In case of a ‘no result’ in the semi-finals, the team that finished higher in the group stage will proceed to the final. If the final is washed out, the trophy will be shared.

India and Bangladesh will need to play out a minimum of 20 overs each for it to constitute a full match. Captain Rohit Sharma will be hoping for a full match considering the spin-heavy squad picked by the selectors for this tournament
