New Delhi: Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, who plays for the Punjab Kings, has shared a humorous video on social media where he is seen teaching superlatives while wearing his new team’s jersey. In the video, Chahal takes on the role of an English grammar professor, cleverly incorporating the names of his Punjab Kings teammates as examples of superlative forms. He starts with “small, smaller, smallest,” continues with “fast, faster, Lockie Ferguson,” and follows up with “tall, taller, Marco Jansen.”

Last year, Chahal made history by becoming the highest-priced spinner ever in IPL auction history. He was purchased for an impressive Rs 18 crore by Punjab Kings during the IPL 2025 auction, which took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in November.

A humorous video featuring the player has surfaced during his ongoing divorce proceedings. Chahal and his spouse Dhanashree Verma have initiated divorce filings.

Although rumors about their split had been circulating on social media for several months, the couple officially confirmed their divorce filing about a week ago. Reports indicated that their final hearing and all required procedures occurred at the Bandra Family Court, where both individuals were present. However, Dhanashree’s attorney mentioned that the proceedings were still ongoing.

“I have no comments to make on the proceedings, the matter is currently sub judice. The media should fact-check before reporting, as a lot of misleading information is being circulated,” Dhanashree’s lawyer Aditi Mohan had said in a statement.

Numerous media outlets reported that Dhanashree requested Rs 60 crore in alimony; however, her family has categorically denied this and urged the media to refrain from disseminating any false information.

“We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims being circulated about the alimony figure. Let me be absolutely clear-no such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. There is no truth to these rumors whatsoever. It is deeply irresponsible to publish such unverified information, dragging not just the parties but also their families into unnecessary speculation. Reckless reporting like this only causes harm, and we urge the media to exercise restraint and fact-check before spreading misinformation and also be respectful towards everyone’s privacy,” the statement read.

Chahal’s most recent appearance for India was in a T20I against the West Indies in August 2023. He continues to be overlooked, having not been selected for India’s squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
