New Delhi: The much-awaited Test series between India and England has kicked off at the Headingley ground in Leeds. The series has been dubbed the ‘Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy’ and is the big platform for the new generation of Indian players to prove themselves. Shubman Gill has been given the captaincy of the team after Rohit Sharma’s retirement. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin have also retired from the format. There is definitely a lack of experience, but this team is second to none in quality and is fully prepared to take on England.
Fans disappointed by graphics, outrage on social media
While fans were extremely excited about this series, the poor broadcast graphics marred their fun. On social media, fans slammed the broadcasters, saying it ruined the viewing experience.
Sai’s debut in Team India’s playing XI and Karun’s return
England won the toss and decided to bowl first. Sai Sudarshan got the debut cap for India, while Karun Nair returned to the team after seven years. Nitish Reddy and Kuldeep Yadav were excluded, while Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur were included. The command of fast bowling was handed over to Jasprit Bumrah, Prasiddh Krishna and Mohammad Siraj.
Captain Shubman Gill said at the time of the toss
“We also wanted to bowl first, it might be a bit difficult in the beginning but later the pitch will get better for batting. Sai is making his debut and Karun has also returned. Sai will bat at number three.”
