New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is renowned for launching young, unknown players into the spotlight. In the 2025 season, 24-year-old Priyansh Arya achieved a historic feat for the Punjab Kings, scoring the fastest century ever by an uncapped player in IPL history, accomplishing the milestone in only 39 balls during a pivotal match against the Chennai Super Kings.
Priyansh Arya revealed that he was given licence to play his natural game from the very start.
“Shreyas bhai told me that I will open in all the games in the season, that gave me a lot of confidence to play my natural game, and attack from the very first ball,” young opener said.
He also revealed that coach Ricky Ponting never asked him to change his batting approach. “Ricky sir never questioned my batting approach, instead he asks me to back my natural instincts, which gives a lot confidence to young players,” he added.
Priyansh Arya scored 608 runs in 10 innings for the Delhi Superstars during the inaugural Delhi Premier League. His performance included two centuries and four half-centuries, and he notably hit six sixes in a single over in one match.
Priyansh Arya has scored 158 runs in his four IPL matches. His debut match, a Punjab victory over Gujarat in Ahmedabad, saw him contribute 47 runs. He failed to score against Rajasthan, but subsequently played a significant innings of 103 runs against Chennai Super Kings.
